Light Proof” is a group exhibition of photographers working with film photography and chemical processing in the dark room, shedding light on works that engage the audience to develop an appreciation for film photography in a digital age.Photography was an important innovation that greatly impacted the way we worked. We were presented with a new perspective and a new way to document events, capture a moment and express an idea. Shooting on film has become an unconventional passion for a devoted few, as it typically requires more patience, diligence and care than digital photography. That is why there is so much importance in keeping with the traditional techniques of photography, where so much emphasis is placed on the process of creating the final photograph. When planning a photograph with film, you have more to consider than just composition and exposure. You also have to consider your film and paper stocks, and different types of chemical processes. Each photograph presented is created through a different process, whether it is the film stock, camera or chemicals they use, and each one contains an unexpected flaw that comes with human error, adding a personal fingerprint to the work.- Vicki Chau, Barewalls Coordinator
